As a chapter of NMEDA, our membership network includes mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, driver rehabilitation specialists (DRSs), and other allied health professionals (OTs, PTs, etc.) located throughout Canada. Always striving to unify and improve the mobility equipment industry and its services, our organization works together within the adaptive community to provide quality, safe, and reliable transportation to people with disabilities.
Our membership maintains the highest industry standards through the NMEDA Guidelines and the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) rules. Adhering to these regulations ensures that all modifications provided by NMEDA Canada member mobility dealers either meet or exceed the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. By upholding these high-quality standards through annual member audits, we are able to continue elevating performance levels to reliably meet consumers’ transportation needs in the safest manner possible.
Unfortunately, not all businesses and individuals who sell and install automotive mobility equipment adhere to these high standards, or any standards regarding training, use of proper tools and facilities, and use of customer evaluations to determine the proper equipment and fitting.
With a lack of oversight in the face of ever-increasing access to mobility products, it is our belief that safety and product integrity can best be achieved by establishing legislation and regulatory rules that set standards for mobility equipment installation.
